Intensity G perks up rainy day festivities in P Princesa, Tacloban

Intensity G, Globe’s roving regional road show recently dropped by Puerto Princesa and Tacloban for a back-to-back celebration of the Baragatan and Pintados-Kasadyaan festivals.

Serving as the hub of the 2005 Baragatan festivities, Puerto Princesa played host to the numerous Intensity G events and activities catering to local residents and tourists alike. Bargain hunters and craft collectors went shopcrazy at the Baragatan Trade Fair, while sports enthusiasts enjoyed the amateur boxing tournament sponsored by Gov. Joel T. Reyes.

Meanwhile, beauteous belles representing the province’s various municipalities vied for the title of Mutya ng Palawan. Palaweños lined up the streets for Sarawtan sa Dalan, the traditional float parade and street dance competition. Capping the month-long festival was the rocking Intensity G concert featuring Mitu’s Tribe, Tropical Depression, Sponge Cola and Radioactive Sago Project.

Globe’s Island-hopping party personality July took Tacloban by storm, checking out the myriad activities Intensity G lined up for the Pintados-Kasadyaan festival, as well as popular Leyte attractions like the San Juanico Bridge and McArthur Memorial. An exciting mix of traditional and modern-day merry-making, the Waray festival of festivals gathered Leyteños from across the province for water sports competition, variety shows, and cultural presentations.

Pop rock princess Kitchie Nadal headlined a jam-packed concert on the eve of the festival’s culminating day, which featured the renowned Kasadyaan grand parade. Heady with the festive Pintados spirit, July enthusiastically joined contingents decked out in costumed finery and intricate body paint as they paraded across the streets, much to the delight of the local crowd.

Of course, no Intensity G celebration would be complete without its trademark mobile perks and Intensity G Festival Treats such as rappelling, henna tattoos, basketball shootout and videoke challenge, as well as a chance to win a brand new mobile phone.
