BUTUAN CITY — More than 1,000 volunteers from government line agencies, fraternities, non-government organizations, religious and business sectors, as well as farmers and students from various schools trooped to Mount Mayapay, the highest peak facing this region’s "Timber City," for a tree planting activity over the weekend.
The tree planting was in line with the "Radyo Bombo (DXBR-Butuan) plant a tree project", where some 2,000 seedlings of various species like mahogany, African tulips and fruit trees were planted at the rolling mountain sides.
The project was held in close coordination with Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Executive Director Edilberto S. Buiser, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Rosendo Asunto and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Jaime Acebu.
Leading the rehabilitation of the Mt. Mayapay task force is the National Economic Development Authority.
