Last Saturday, it was Germany’s “Feuerwerk” versus China’s Pyro Power in the World Pyro Olympics 2009 that is being hosted by the City of Taguig until December 19, 2009. This coming Saturday, November 28, it will be Japan’s Fire Power versus Australia’s might and light.

The much anticipated event will be participated in by eight countries including the Philippines. Now on its fourth year, the World Pyro Olympics will take place in the growing and glowing city of Taguig on November 28, December 5, 12 and 19.

“We are very happy with the number of people going to our city and at the same time, we are excited about hosting this year’s World Pyro Olympics as it would only enhance those numbers,” said Mayor Tinga.

“Through this event, we will showcase the world-class Filipino. We will bring the world to the Philippines and present the Filipinos to the world,” he added.

This year’s stellar list of participating countries include South Korea, China, Germany, Australia, Japan, Italy, Canada and the U.S. Two countries will compete every Saturday with a dazzling finale slated on December 19. A Fellowship of Fire will be the highlight plus an exhibition from the host country, the Philippines.

This year’s spectacle of fireworks display will be very different from previous years as the event features a lot of “firsts”. One of the most exciting “first” is the Pyro-musical. Viewers will be treated to state-of-the-art fireworks display combined with modern computer technology. Through this advancement, this year’s World Pyro Olympics will be more than just a visual showcase but a gracefully choreographed audio and visual presentation.

This year’s World Pyro Olympics will be at The Fort open grounds behind Bonifacio High Street, near MC Home Depot. Ticket Prices range from P200 for the General Viewing Area, P500 for the Special Viewing Area and P1,500 for the VIP.
