aroma of freshly cooked "putobumbong" and "bibingka"
by Emilie Jane Flauta
The aroma of freshly cooked "putobumbong" and "bibingka" during the midnight mass or "simbang gabi" makes Christmas in
the Philippines uniquely special. It is incomparable, unparalleled and very different from the stereotypical scent of fresh pine
trees that the rest of the world perceive during the holiday.
