Bacolod, a city well-known for its annual MassKara
celebration promises visitors revelry during the
twoweek festival held every October.
To highlight this year's celebration,
internationally-acclaimed artist, Ms. Kuh Ledesma, will
perform a concert on October 16, 7 p.m. at the Grand
Ballroom of the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City.
The show, entitled MassKUHrade, is one of the
spectacular events prepared by the organizers to
entertain visitors and locals during the week of merry
making. It also includes a Masquerade Ball which will
feature allnight ballroom and disco dancing.
Likewise, the sponsor has come up with various contests
for those who will attend the concert. Major prizes
include round-trip tickets to Hong Kong for the winners of
the Best Costume and Mask Contest and two round-trip
tickets to Manila for an allexpenses-paid weekend
vacation for Ballroom and Disco Dancing winners. There
will also be a grand raffle draw offering appliances and
other major prizes.
Tickets for the MassKUHrade are available at the foyer of
the Sugarland Hotel. Travel arrangements for the Ilonggos
residing in Manila who wish to join the celebration are
also offered.
Kuh Ledesma, a native of Bacolod, and the sponsor,
L'Atelier Pour Homme et Pour Femme, will donate the
proceeds of the concert to the Holy Infant Nursery run by
the Blessed Virgin Missionaries of Carmel (BVMC) in
Sum-ag, Bacolod City.
The Nursery is a non-profit charitable institution which
takes care of the orphaned, abandoned, and neglected
children as well as new born infants found in the garbage
heaps or left at the nursery's doorsteps.
Now on its 20th year, the theme for this year's festivities
is " MassKara Welcomes the New Millennium."
