MUNICH (DPA) - The boom in theme hotels in Las Vegas is entering a new
phase and in late summer, the new Hotel Aladdin will open its doors to the
public for the first time.
The city’s tourist office in Munich says there will be genie’s lamps spouting water
above every washbasin, oriental carpets and stunning divans to greet visitors.
Summer 2000 sees the start of plans to bring some Californian flair to Las Vegas. The
demolition of the traditional New Frontier casino and hotel has created space for a
new hotel with a San Franciscan theme, “City by the Bay”.
Reconstructions of Lombard Street, the Coit Tower and Fisherman’s Wharf should
conjure up memories of the west coast metropolis.
When the work is completed, the hotel will have over 2,112 rooms, 400 suites and
2,500 gaming machines — so-called “one-armed bandits” — to offer visitors to the
desert city.
