17 resort package summer islands

Travel packages to suit every budget, soccer

tournaments, wall climbing competitions, island

music, bar-hopping, raves at the beachfront, and

house parties at popular clubs are only some of the

things that are set to attract guests to Boracay and

make it ''the'' place to be in this summer.

Seventeen of the island’s major resorts have recently

come together and have launched the Boracay Summer

Series, a three-week affair of sports, music, and fun for

the whole family, to boost tourism in one of the country’s

most popular travel destinations.

Aside from the major events that will be happening on

the island, the different resorts are offering special

packages and other valueadded incentives.

These packages include three-day, two-night

accommodations, meals, welcome drinks, airport

transfers, shuttle service, and use of resort facilities.

Rates range from P2,078-P3,250 for triple sharing, to

P4,799-P6,050 for single occupancy.

Cebu Pacific, the official airlines of the Boracay Series,

will also have special packages for the summer series.

The resorts have also been improving their services in

preparation for the summer. Boracay Regency, for

example, has recently acquired their own boat, which can

seat 25-30 people, to transport their guests to and from

the island. Pink Patio, on the other hand, constructed an

11-meter wall for the wall climb competition.

During the summer series’ launch, Billie Callizo, senior

provincial member on Tourism, Travel and Industry

Committee, commended the 17 resorts for their effort to

promote the island as a team and not separately. “What

is good for the destination is good for the properties,”

she said.

The Boracay Summer Series is endorsed by the

Department of Tourism, the Aklan Tourism Council and

Gov. Miraflores of Aklan.

The resorts behind the project are Le Soleil, Boracay

Regency Hotel, Pink Patio, Boracay Imperial, Casa Pilar,

357, White House, Cocomangas, Fridays, Sea Wind

Resort, Lorenzo Grand Villas, Lorenzo Main, Lorenzo

South, Boracay Terraces, A Rock Resort, Crystal Sand,

and Jony’s Place.

On the first weekend, May 12-14, the activities will be

hosted by Studio 23. These include the Boracay Beach

Soccer Cup at the Cocomanga, a Latin Groove Night at

the Summer Place Resort, and the Beach Soccer Victory

Party at Moondogs bar.

For the second weekend, May 19-21, Jose Cuervo will

take over the events. These are the Wall Climbing

Competition at Pink Patio, the Jose Cuervo Back-to-Back

DJ Party at the Summer Place, an a Brazilian Night with

Moise at the Tawo Bar on the last day.

Finally, on the last weekend, May 26-28, there will be a

Cuervo-Moondogs Challenge, Sunset Sessions with

Johnny Walker, and a Rave of the Beach at Le Soleil de

Boracay.

Meanwhile, the representatives of the resorts noted that

there are a lot more Filipinos traveling these days. In

fact, the economic crisis seemed to have a favorable

effect on local travel and tourism industry as people who

usually go to different countries for a vacation opt to go

to destinations within the country such as Boracay.

Another factor which contributed to the increase of Pinoy

travelers is because of the aggressive marketing of the

travel industry.

There is a misconception that a trip to Boracay is

high-priced. This is something the resort owners want to

do away with. They assured that the island caters to any

kind of budget so they are encouraging more people to

visit them.

The Boracay Summer Series is sponsored by Smart

Communications, Cebu Pacific, Jose Cuervo, Studio 23,

NU 107, WG&A, Strike Zone, and Local Vibe.
