Summer is here and everyone in the family is yearning for the sand, the sea and the pleasures of summer fun. For those who are now planning their own family summer get-away, White Rock Beach Hotel in nearby Subic Bay, Zambales may just be the right place to visit.

This year, as part of the resort’s five-year redevelopment program and preparation for summer, White Rock Beach Hotel has undergone numerous improvements in hotel accommodations, landscapes, amenities, and ambience in the whole 5.6-hectare complex. Resort chairman George U. Lorenzana guarantees visitors a splendid time frolicking under the tropical sun. “This summer, guests can already enjoy the place just by walking around,” he said.

Pathwalks have been installed throughout the resort and across the golden sand beach to provide convenience to beachgoers. Additional giant cogon huts have also been constructed to serve more guests. And for those who just want to “while away” their lazy afternoon, 18 hammocks are hung under coconut trees.

In addition to this, seven newly built native pavilions intended for social gatherings exude a homey and traditional setting for every day occassions. White Rock’s five function rooms found at the annex building were also renovated to accommodate 15-300 guests.

Aside from the beach, the pool area has also undergone a “beautifying” process. The Olympic-sized pool and the kiddie pool have been fitted with glowing waterfalls. The pool area now also has pool basketball, pool bar, spa, jacuzzi and massage area.

Guests can sweat it out inside the spa room, or get a rejuvenating massage from well-trained masseurs. More greenery, and sun-bathing areas were added, while water slides in both pools have been installed.

Meanwhile, for those who want to ignore their diets and sample some palate-pleasing dishes, the Pinoy Bistro Coffee Shop offers tried and tested combo meals at very reasonable prices. To enhance the gastronomic enjoyment, guests are serenaded by a quartet and a piano/violin playing duo during meal times. A sumptuous complimentary breakfast buffet is also offered (except Holy Week).

This same type of food service can be expected soon at the Bayside Grill and BBQ Plaza, a “floating” restaurant by the beach. The spacious restaurant has a nipa-hut-inspired design and will be open for the summer season. Guests of the resort can dine al fresco style in this floating restaurant amidst the panoramic view of Subic Bay.

After a hearty meal, guests are invited to get rid of some excess poundage through watersports activities now being offered. The resort recently entered into a tie-up with Johans Adventure and Wreck Dive Center, offering diving trips for beginners or amateurs into depths ranging 15 to 35 meters. Aside from diving, the resort offers jetskiing, kayaking, snorkel trips, waterskiing, knee/wave board, parasailing, and banana ride.

The resort has upgraded its KTV facilities for families and friends to enjoy. Guests can now watch inhouse movies (DVD) or sing at the KTV Rooms. Meanwhile, the newly renovated recreation center offers indoor games such as billiards, table tennis and darts.

A “rolling hill” and a playground were also constructed for the kids to enjoy while young and old can try the amateur archery range, putting greens and basketball court.

The family room at the main hotel have been remodelled to satisfy the needs of the whole family. All the hotel rooms have also been refurbished and equipped with cable TV.
