This Sunday, local and foreign tourists, pilgrims and other spectators will flock to San Pablo City in Laguna, about three hours ride from Metro Manila, to witness the Coconut Festival.
The Coconut Festival is the city’s tourist attraction every year. Coconut is a major industry in Laguna; and with the festival, the people in the city show their gratitude to the Lord for bountiful harvest. Participants in colorful costumes dance, sing, play instruments and ride in different floats.
The festival is the subject of an on-the-spot photo contest. The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. is the organizer while Columbia Global Photo Sales Corp., the sponsor.
The photo tilt is open to amateur and professional photographers.
Participants must use Konica Film and can shoot any scenes, events, human interest, spectators or any happenings related to the festival.
Prizes are: 1st – 1 Nikon F60 camera with lens (R19,500) and 5 rolls Centuria Film 200-36; 2nd – 1 Z Up 110 camera (R7,580) and 5 rolls Centuria Film 200-36 and 3rd – 1 Z Up 60 camera and 5 rolls Centuria Film 200-36.
