The good life at Camp John Hay

CAMP JOHN HAY, Baguio City (PNA) – Cool climate and lush pine forest are but a few of the things that set Camp John Hay (CJH) apart from other tourist destinations in the country.

Beyond the trees stands a perfect respite from the busy world – the Camp John Hay Manor.

Standing on the side of the old main club, where people used to enjoy bingo nights, dancing, roast beef and burgundy, the Camp John Hay Manor offers more than memorable evenings.

The Manor, the first condotel constructed as part of the Master Development Plan, had already opened. As a condotel, it offers the chance for longer vacations in the comfort of cozy one-and-two bedroom or studio type units with verandahs.

Maintaining the architectural shape of the old Main Club, every angle of the Manor is a window to nature’s meditative charm, breathtaking view of forests, the Cordillera mountain range and air that’s fresh and clean.

Freddie Alquiroz, COO of CJH Development Corp. (CJHDevCo) said, as part of the hotel cluster, the Manor is a four-storey condotel housing 187 units. It promises a feeling of home as guests enter its lobby and warmth from its fireplace hugs them.

Alquiroz said dining al fresco is enhanced by the historical Friendship Garden where sit statues of Presidents Quezon and Lincoln. The Manor had no less than Recio & Casas for their architectural expertise and interior design by Steven Leach & Associates.

“The opening of the Manor is seen to make a significant contribution to Baguio’s tourism by helping answer for the lack of accommodation facilities especially during the peak season,” Alquiroz said.

The CJH Manor is currently offering a special rainy day promo that is too good to pass up. Called the “Special Baguio Advantage Rate”, guests may avail of a 50 percent discount on rooms for a minimum stay of two nights in any of the Manor’s well-appointed units.

Golfers can also enjoy the all-weather Nicklaus-designed championship course of CJH with the Baguio Golf Advantage Promo. A very affordable package includes a two-night stay in a studio unit at the Manor, two rounds of golf, use of golf cart and breakfast at Le Souffle. The promo runs until Oct.15.

The Manor is but one of the various facilities people can look forward to when in CJH. Quaint country homes and log homes, that form part of the residential cluster, offer a perfect place to rest and refresh the senses for those who wish to spend more than just a day or two at CJH.

The Nicklaus-designed championship golf course, the most undulating in the country and perhaps the most covered with trees, makes for an exhilarating and challenging game.

The golf clubhouse made of imported cedar logs boasts not only of world-class amenities and breathtaking views, but also of delectable cuisine to satisfy every craving.

An ecotourism center that features picnic areas, camping grounds and hiking trails, offers an outdoor experience that is cool, literally and figuratively.

A town center shall serve as the camp’s main commercial and recreation hub that features a variety of shops, supermarket, recreational facilities, theaters, restaurants, business center, amphitheater, etc. The town center is designed to redefine shopping and recreation, and make them more interesting.

Other recreational and dining facilities that one can enjoy in CJH include picnic areas, skating and bicycle rinks, basketball court, minigolf course, ball field, children’s playground, ice cream parlor and snack bar, Country Waffles, duty free shops, Camp Nike, Angles Bar, Denrico’s Grill, Carlo’s Pizza, Little John’s and Strumm’s.

Indeed, CJH must be life as designed originally – by day, walks and adventures in nature’s conversations and quiet time with loved ones. Every facility is built to take on both the unrelenting energy of children and the easy-going attitude of individuals seeking stress-release.
