| RP grabs award for best dive center in SEA |

The Philippines gained another recognition as it was awarded “Best Dive Center in Southeast Asia 2002” in the recently held “BOOT FAIR,” the biggest water-sports fair in Europe.
The said award was a result of a survey conducted by Europe’s number one dive magazine – the “Tauchen.”
SEA Explorer-Philippines bagged the award of Best Dive Center in Southeast Asia for its dive center programs in Cebu (Moalboal/Malapascua), Bohol (Alona Beach/Cabilao Island), Mindoro (Puerto Galera), Dumaguete and Siquijor.
The Department of Tourism (DoT) in Frankfurt participated together with 13 Philippine dive centers and operators in the annual fair held in Dusseldorf last Jan. 16-26.
DoT Secretary Richard Gordon is optimistic that with the recent award, the Visit Philippines Year 2003 campaign will be given a further boost, especially in Europe. Gordon said, “Our winning this recognition brings us closer to making the Philippines as Asia’s best dive destination.”
The country boasts of unspoiled treasures, coral reefs teeming with a wide variety of marine life.
At present, the Philippines remains to have one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world which offers unending fascination to underwater buffs.
Other participating diving centers for this year were: Alona Divers; Bohol Sea Resort; Boracay Safai Divers; Calypso Diving-Boracay; Atlantis Dive Center-Cebu/Mindoro; Philippine Divers Corporation; Scuba World; Coco Explorer; Sea Explorers Philippines; Octopus Divers; El Galleon-Asia Divers; Cocktail Divers and Pro-Dive Philippines.
