To tell the world that the Best of the Best are found in Region VI, in terms of tourism attractions, “Women of Wonders” join the Department of Tourism’s (DoT) aggressive campaign in promoting Region VI as one of the country’s major destinations.
The Women of Wonders of Negros and Panay are former DoT Secretary Narzalina Lim, Gretchen Oppen Cojuangco, Judy Araneta Roxas, Mila Drilon and Mayor Cynthia dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto.
John Orola, Negros Occidental Tourism Consultant and former Congressman of the lone district of Bacolod City, together with the Women of Wonders, call for massive campaign to promote Region VI festivals, food, arts and culture, and tourist attractions.
Region VI is composed of Negros, Bacolod, Iloilo, Guimaras, Antique, Aklan and Capiz.
Orola will present the tourism attractions and programs of their respective areas.
Billie Calizo, representative of the lone district of Aklan will be the guest-of-honor and speaker during the Travel Trade Forum.
The League of Governors of Panay and Negros Occidental chaired by Governor Sally Z. Perez together with Negros Occidental Joseph Maranon, Iloilo Governor Niel Tupaz, Guimaras Governor Raman Nava, Capiz Governor Vicente Bermejo and Aklan Governor Joven Miraflores, joined their resources to aggressively promote Region VI tourism industry.
The presentations of the local government units (LGUs) will be followed by product matching between the sellers (LGUs) and the buyers (tour operators).
Tour packages by local tour operators from Panay and Negros will be unveiled during the forum.
They appealed to the Women of Wonders for support considering their sphere of influence in the country today.
Major festivals in Region VI – Ati-Atihan of Aklan, Binirayan of Antique, Halaran of Capiz, Manggahan of Guimaras, Dinagyang of Iloilo, Masskara of Bacolod City, Pasalamat Festival of La Carlota City and Babaylan of Bago City, are among the popular and well-known festivals that will be featured at Intramuros, the site of the DoT’s Best of Region VI.
Popular Ilonggo food such as pansit molo, batchoy, chicken inasal and piyaya will be sold to the public.
The Best of Region VI reeled-off with the Travel Trade Forum as main event. Participants include Manila-based travel agents, tour operators and tourism students from Manila colleges and universities.
