The Calamba provincial government, through the initiatives of Smart Communications Inc. (SMART) now provides tourists ready and up-todate information about the province.
Called the Tourism Mobile Textsite, the project will enable local tourists and residents to inquire through their mobile phones, using set keywords and access number, information pertaining to various resorts, tourist spots and other important information about the province, which is known as the birthplace of the national hero, Jose Rizal.
"Smart, Talk ’N Text and Addict mobile subscribers can get information on hotels, private pools, restaurants, resorts, cottages and shops accredited by the local tourism agency by sending certain keywords to access number 700CAL or 700225," said James Perez, business development and operations manager of l-Contacts Corp (l-Con), a Smart subsidiary offering this sms-based service.
"SMS Care will be used as a convenient guide for all Calamba tourists as it features all the contact details of resorts, hotels, and pasalubong stores," he added.
A subscriber only needs to key in INFO followed by the keyword then send to the 700-CAL. Keywords include, CINEMA, COFFEESHOPS, COTTAGES, FASTFOODS, TRAVELAGENCY, TRAININGCTR, SHOPS, RIZAL SHRINE, RESTAURANTS, RESORTS, GASOLINE, HOTELS AND PRIVATEPOOLS. The subscriber will then get the contact details of these establishments. The cost for every inquiry is R2.50.
For those who want to send a message directly to the DoT local office, they only need to txt TXT COMMENT followed by the message and send to the Calamba access number.
Smart and its subsidiary l-Con have been providing various government offices with similar text-based services under I-CON SMS CARE, giving the over 16 million users of the Smart network faster and more convenient communication lines to these government units.
