Singapore’s award-winning production group is here in Manila to cover the country’s food peddlers as part of their international documentary entitled “The Peddlers of Asia.”
Screenbox Pte. Ltd., a popular production outfit in Singapore has won an award for Creative Excellence from the United States International Film and Video Festival for the films, “Kau Istimewa” (You are Special) and “Kilinik Kita” (Our Clinic) in 2001 and 2002, respectively.
They are currently working on a 13 episodes of documentary that features food peddlers in different parts of Asia. The program aims to document the secret recipes, lifestyles, cultures and profiles of the food peddlers.
“Every peddler has a unique human interest story to tell. Stories that reflect their culture, economy, lifestyle, principles and belief,” said Screenbox Creative director Zulina Karim. “The Philippines being part of the exotic countries in Asia will be portrayed in the most interesting and positive way.”
The Department of Tourism (DoT) welcomes the opportunity as a form of promotion on the unique culture of the Philippines seen in gastronomy.
The Peddlers of Asia will debut on the prime Malay channel, Mediacorp Suria on the 3rd week of September and will be shown in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Moreover, the documentary will be sold worldwide with its English translation. The project is supported by the Media Development Authority of Singapore.
