Believe it or not but locals and foreign tourists who do not have the luxury of time can now have a quick tour of Metro Manila in 30 minutes or less, minus the hassles of traffic and of commuting from one place to another. The WOW Philippines’ Best of the Regions’ exhibit in Intramuros gathers under one roof all the best attractions, products and programs of the 13 cities and four municipalities.

The “Best of Metro Manila” exhibit which will run until Oct. 30, is showcasing the cities of Manila, Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Quezon City, Pasig, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Malabon, Caloocan, Valenzuela and Pasay, and the municipalities of San Juan, Navotas, Taguig, and Pateros.

The show is made more interesting with the colorful replicas of various attractions and landmarks of several cities, giving visitors the impression of actually hopping from one city to another. Among these are the recreated versions of the La Mesa Dam of Quezon City, Eagle Monument of Mandaluyong, Baywalk of Manila, Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan, giant leather shoe of Marikina and the fishing industry in Navotas.

A closer look at the well-decorated booths would reveal the rich history and transformation of most cities and municipalities from generally swampy towns or vast farmlands into bustling business and commercial centers as well as its projects and future developments.

Visitors can also find a hodgepodge of trade products made in a particular city or municipality. Best buys are the alfombra slippers, balut, penoy and salted eggs of Pateros; shoes, sandals and bags from Marikina; ceramics and rattan from San Juan; King Sue ham, longganisa and export-quality Christmas decor of Caloocan; Navotas’ patis, alamang bagoong, crispy dilis, tinapa and rellenong bangus, okoy and kikiam; Binondo’s Chinese delicacies and sweets; and the wood and wax handicrafts of Parañaque.

Each city is also assigned a special day where they are able to show off their best talents and artists through world-class performances and productions.
