Tagaytay Picnic Grove beautification under way

The high cost of gasoline, transportation fare and the six-hour travel time from Manila to Baguio City gives Tagaytay City the edge in luring local travelers to its highlands offering the same amenities and cool climate.

Tagaytay Picnic Grove’s (TPG) new resident manager Jane Jarabe sees the opportunity in giving local tourists, particularly those from Metro Manila and nearby provinces, to experience the cool breeze of the mountains, see the panoramic view of Taal Lake and its volcano while enjoying the facilities and ambiance of the special interest resort at a very reasonable price.

A make over, that is taking place under the new management, will show the real essence of a picnic grove that is clean and green.

"I want to see more trees. Luckily, Mayor Abraham Tolentino of Tagaytay City is supportive of the idea. It is a joy to know that the city’s policy to require every couple to plant a tree before tying the knot shows how the mayor care for the environment. Mayor Tolentino suggested to have the TGP the next site for tree planting activities," Jarabe said.

Among the plans of Jarabe for TPG are the installation of special signages, landscape treatments, creation of a forest for its eco-adventure trail, pavement of rough roads and repainting of facilities inside the property.

Tagaytay Picnic Grove is only two hours away from Manila. It is one of the Philippine Tourism Authority’s income-generating facilities. The 13.5-hectare hillside resort offers various amenities such as a restaurant, cottage accommodations, function halls, picnic areas, view decks and an eco-adventure trail.
